While the northern part of Norway is suffering under a very heavy storm, we are suffering here in the south of all the snow that is coming down. Many roads are closed, some roofs have been blown away, air traffic is quite delayed, and some of the bigger cruises are not able to come in the harbors.
The weather that I see outside is exactly how I pictured it to be, before I moved over here. Norway: windy, cold and heaps of snow (and actually... I live here now for almost five years, and it wasn't all that bad, to be honest). We have had a lot of snow before, but that fell over a much longer period. I remember the year I moved to Oslo (October 2002) was a year with a long white winter. It started half October and we kept snow until the end of March. In that time it reached here in the south up to around half a meter. Bit annoying, but reasonably to overcome. This year we have even more in just three days!
The wind doesn't really help... it is difficult to determine where to put your feet. It has happened a couple of times that I thought I could put my feet down safely, and ending up sinking in the snow till way over my knees...
If you want to know more about the heavy storm, you can read it here and if you want some more pictures about the snow you can see them here
I didn't dare to take my camera with me this morning, because it is so wet, but managed to make some pictures through the windows. This is our table in the backyard. I wonder how much more it can take before it completely disappears:

The next picture is the view in front of the house:

This morning I suddenly had another interview. I said in my post of the 13th that they had given my name as a candidate for a job at the International School. Yesterday they called me and we made an appointment for this morning. To be certain where the bus stopped, Geir Olav and I took a trip over there to check. It was not very difficult to find.
Snow ploughs often don't think about pedestrians though... Neither did the buss... When I got off, I didn't have any other choice than to step in this hill of snow on the side of the road. You find yourself with the same problem when you need to cross the street, even when there is a pedestrian path. I think I will buy myself some waders next time
The interview went very nice. Very friendly people, a good atmosphere, and believe it or not: the principal of the school is Dutch, so the first part went in Dutch. It felt a little bit strange. Applying for a job in Norway, and talking Dutch...
The second part was in English. I almost felt more comfortable with that. Through the years it has become more unaccustomed to use my mother language, because I hardly speak it here.
Anyhow, I really hope I will get this job. It sounded like the right job for me (kind of a dream job, you can say) and fits with my background. I also would love to work in an international environment again. The school, buildings and people gave a good feeling: friendly. I think it will also be fun to deal more with children.
They will have to more candidates on Monday and will take a decision by the end of next week. So, all I can do is wait. I know I will try to relax now and prepare for our honeymoon. I saw that Bergamo had sun and around seven degrees
Looking forward to that!
good luck on the prospects of working at the international school! :)
